Location: the Central House of Artists, Krymsky Val, 10

MOSCOW DESIGN BIENNIALE is a joint project of the Central House of Artists, the Moscow Design Museum and the Higher School of Economics. The concept of the Biennale is based on the comprehensiveness of the influence of design on the quality of human life and its growing importance not only for the whole material world, but also for a world of ideas and aspirations.

The Moscow Design Museum exhibition explores graphic design in the USSR and is represented by a selection of Soviet periodicals from the early 1920’s to the late 1980’s. These are magazines LEF, USSR under Construction, Women's Magazine, Rabotnitsa, Science and Technology, Art for Workers, Music for the Masses, Workers' Theater and Technical Aesthetics. The exhibition also features a video installation with interviews of former VNIITE staff: Alexander Grashin, Tatyana Suslova, Alexander Lavrentiev, Marina Timofeeva, Evgeny Zadesinets, Irina Kostenko, and Vladimir Anisimov.
